E-commerce for graphic designers
Rewriting a failed PHP project as a Rails, Grape and AngularJS: single-page app for ordering customizable business cards and posters.
A single-page-app for the Polish market for selling business cards, posters and other graphics.
The graphical projects could be customized by users in the browser.
The client had an application already started in PHP by another company, but the development failed at an early stage.
Along with a few other devs, we rewrote the application in Rails + Grape + AngularJS (1.6).
After this we started implementing new features that the client requested.
Some of the features:
- full, e-commerce-like checkout process
- many templates for business cards, posters, and other graphical projects
- templates editable by users in the browser
- validating generated projects by an external service and ordering it in a dedicated printing house
- admin panel with a lot of options (eg. importing the templates, pricings)
- management panel for users
- users could talk to designers, offering their templates
- background jobs for nightly fetching/updating products from external data providers
